Equine Art, Antique, and Rare Book Auction at the American Saddlebred Museum

Published Date: May 24, 2019

LEXINGTON, KY–May 23, 2019—The American Saddlebred Museum presents the highly anticipated Equine Art, Antique and Rare Book Auction on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at the American Saddlebred Museum, located at 4083 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, Kentucky on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park. An auction preview will take place at the Museum from June 3-7, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and on June 8 two hours before the auction. The preview and sale are free and open to the public.

Executive Director Jennifer Foster says of the event “We are so pleased to have the Equine Art Auction this year. The auction has an excellent variety of items from paintings to vintage advertising. This sale has something for every horse lover.” The focus of the auction is particularly Saddlebred items, but coaching, Thoroughbred, Hackney and Morgan artwork are included. The auction draws and specializes in works by George Ford Morris, and includes examples of his work in pastel, oil, charcoal as well as lithographs.

In addition to Morris, other artists represented in the 2019 auction include W. S. Vanderbilt Allen, John Thomas Berry, Edwin Bogucki, Anne Crawford, Sally McClure Jackson, Maretta Kennedy, Henry Stull, and many other well-known equine artists.

The 2019 auction catalog is available online at asbmuseum.org/equine-art-auction, or receive one via mail by emailing museum@asbmuseum or calling (859) 259-2746.
