ASHA National Select Series Regional Championship Shows Announced

Published Date: Aug 18, 2020

The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) has announced locations for the ASHA National Select Series Regional Championships presented by State Line Tack. The mission of the ASHA National Select Series is to encourage more people to show American Saddlebreds and strengthen the show horse market by providing classes where horses of the same relative level can compete against one another.  The Regional Championships will be held at the following locations this Fall:

Region 1: California Futurity Horse Show, Las Vegas, NV

Region 2: Northwest Fall Classic Horse Show, Eugene, OR

Region 3: St. Louis National Charity Horse Show, Lake St. Louis, MO

Region 4: LASHA Fall Horse Show, Baton Rouge, LA

Region 5/6: Mid-America Mane Event Horse Show, Springfield, IL

Region 7: Kentucky Fall Classic Horse Show, Lexington, KY

Region 8: Southeastern Charity Horse Show, Conyers, GA

Region 9: North Carolina State Fair Horse Show, Raleigh, NC

Region 10: ASHAV Horse Show, Lexington, VA

Region 11/12: Twin States Octoberfest Horse Show, W. Springfield, MA

Because of show cancellations due to the pandemic, qualifying for the Regional Championships has been reduced. Each region will now have the flexibility to set the qualifying criteria for their region as long as a horse does not compete at the 2020 World’s Championship Horse Show. You must fill out the 2020 ASHA National Select Series Horse Declaration form and return it to ASHA to be eligible to show. Region 7 (Kentucky) will use the former Bluegrass Select Series qualifying system of requiring one (1) Select Series qualifying class to be eligible to compete in the Region 7 Championship.

“ASHA is excited to announce the Fall lineup of shows for the 2020 ASHA National Select Series Regional Championships and would like to thank State Line Tack for their continued support of the program in its inaugural year”, said ASHA Executive Director David Mount.

ASHA National Select Series has been completed and will be under the helpful guidance of the Saddlebreds Across America Committee. “We’ve seen programs like the Carolina Summer Circuit and the Bluegrass Select Series have a strong interest, so the time is right to expand the National Select Series,” said Saddlebreds Across America committee co-chair Bob Funkhouser. “From the very beginning, this has been about apples showing against apples, and we feel strongly this will help bring back a thriving middle market that has been absent for some time. “If the trainers will use this program, it will help their business, horse shows, and ultimately breeders who will have a market for those extremely usable horses that aren’t six figures.” Fellow committee member and founder of the Bluegrass Select Series Melissa Moore adds, “This program will continue to promote those horses not showing at The World Championship Horses and give them prestige and recognition for being outstanding in their divisions!”

Also exciting news coming soon is that all 2020 ASHA National Select Series entries will also be eligible for a great giveaway for a new John Deere product thanks to our generous corporate partners through the US Equestrian Affiliate Program.
