Robertson Equine Posts “Great” Autumn ’21 Sale, Announces New Online Sales Platform

Published Date: Nov 23, 2021

“The sale was one of our best, given a one-day sale, and we were excited about the crowd we had,” said Robertson Equine Sales CEO Jimmy Robertson.

Topping the sale were American Saddlebred consignments from Elisabeth Goth LLC. Kathy Cook selected The Christmas Lily, the impeccably bred daughter of celebrated WCC CHFox Grape’s The Tiger Lily and the impressive sire WC Fort Chiswell’s Royal Kiss, for $90,000. Another Royal Kiss daughter — Double Kissed, the winner of the 2021 UPHA Five-Gaited Three-Year-Old Classic at Blue Ridge — went home with Karen Blankenship Shumate, also for $90,000. In the Roadster division, Mary Cockriel and The River’s Edge, bidding by phone, chose the speedy gelding Boogie Shoes for $40,000; the six-year-old black Dutch Harness Horse has numerous wins to his credit. Representing the Kolkman Revocable Trust’s Heartland Hackneys were 15 consignments; trainer Rich Campbell of Majestic Oaks Hackney Farm sold the notable Reserve World’s Champion Heartland Thunder Monkey, now a four-year old roadster pony, to Lisa McMackin for the final bid of $12,500. Heartland Slamcracker, a two-year old bay gelding prospect, was chosen by Ellen Troutman for $12,000. And, in fond remembrance of beloved veterinarian Dr. Scott Bennett, Joe O’Brien was top bidder at $4,400 for a week’s stay at the tropical St. Lucia abode owned by Linda Bennett; proceeds benefit the Dr. Scott Bennett Scholarship in Equine Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University.

“It was a great day,” said Robertson. Of 85 consigned horses, the gavels held by Tom Biederman, Jim Price, and Walt Robertson rang up almost $700,000 in sales. Popular announcer Peter Fenton kept the audience entertained, and Ivy Johnson Fleming very capably handled paddock master duties.

The next Robertson Equine Sale is set for Saturday, April 2, 2022; entries will close Feb. 26.

In the meantime, look for Robertson Equine’s new online platform that allows bidders and consignors to buy and sell horses each month from their keyboards. Acknowledging his company’s reputation for personalized, hospitable service, Robertson said, “We pledge to our clients that we’ll offer the best possible online sales platform, one that closely replicates the live auction expertise we’re known for.” The new online platform is set to launch in January 2022; watch RobertsonEquineSales.com for details.
