ASR Diplomat Of The Breed - October 2018

CHCallaway’s Winning Number

We are pleased to announce that the October 2018 ASR Diplomat of the Breed is CH Callaway’s Winning Number (110956). He is an American Saddlebred that always found himself in the winner circle. An unforgettable personality and a trademark blue eye. He has left a lasting impression on all who have crossed his path. He is known as a great champion and Diplomat of the Breed in and out of the show ring.

All who enjoy the wonderful American Saddlebred can agree they are a horse that can work their way into your heart and the family. Their engaging nature often carries over from the show ring to the stall. Through the years you hope to find a horse that can make your dreams come true. If you are lucky, you may find one that two family members can enjoy. It is a one in a million opportunity to see a horse that can make #ASBDreams come true for five! CH Callaway’s Winning Number has done just that.

“Alias,” as he is lovingly known, has been an extraordinary member of the Rowland family for many years. Of those 83 victories in his illustrious 10-year career, Alias has taken five members of the Rowland family to the winner’s circle 57 times since they purchased him in 2008. Three family members have shown him at the Kentucky State Fair World Championship Horse Show and have earned each of them at least one World Championship title. Alias with his over 10 World titles is the definition of excellence in the American Saddlebred Country Pleasure Division. Alias also proved his versatility by showing in the equitation division for many years. As with everything Alias does he was at home in the winner’s circle garnering two National Championships in the Equitation Division. His greatness is not just measured in his accomplishments, but in his willingness. In addition to all of his show ring wins Alias has also been a breed ambassador by being the first choice for meet and greets at various horse shows and charitable events. He has stood patiently for hours at Ever Glades Farm’s stalls as he introduced the breed to hundreds of visitors during the American Royal.

In a tribute to his late sire, CH Callaway’s Born To Win (99023), Missy Hughes Smith speaks about the impact Alias has had on her career. Smith wrote, “I am sad to hear of the passing of Callaway’s Born To Win. Not only was he a phenomenal show horse and partner to his owner Gayle Lampe, but he also brought a very special horse into my life. Without the two of them, I believe I wouldn’t be the trainer I am today. So Cheers and God Speed to you Born to Win. And thank you for this very special horse in my life, Callaway’s Winning Number. Alias continues to bring joy to everyone who has the opportunity to ride him."

Alias while being absent from the show ring for two years still represents the breed by introducing those lucky enough to have a training session on him at his forever home Ever Glades Farm. He continues to show that the American Saddlebred is a great horse willing to do any job with their one of a kind style and grace!
